Solid State Drive (SSD) Price in Nepal: NVMe M.2, SATA [2022]
What is an SSD?
A solid-state drive, or SSD, is a type of computer storage device. This non-volatile storage medium uses solid-state flash memory to store persistent data. Ordinary hard disk drives (HDDs) are being replaced in computers by SSDs, which perform the same basic duties as a hard drive. SSDs, on the other hand, are substantially faster. The device’s system software will boot up faster, programs will load faster, and files will be saved faster with an SSD.
A typical hard drive is made up of a spinning disk and a read/write head mounted on a mechanical arm known as an actuator. A hard disk drive (HDD) uses magnetic technology to read and write data. The magnetic characteristics, on the other hand, can cause mechanical failures.
An SSD, on the other hand, has no mechanical components to fail or spin up and down. The flash controller and NAND flash memory chips are the two most important components of an SSD. This setup is optimized for consecutive and random data requests with great read/write performance.
Types of SSD in Nepal
mSATA SSD
An SSD, on the other hand, does not have any moving parts that can break or cause it to spin up and down. An SSD’s flash controller and NAND flash memory chips are the two most important components. This setup is optimized for sequential and random data requests to give great read/write performance.
mSATA SSDs are designed to fit into mSATA sockets and are typically smaller than 2.5-inch drives. Normally, there isn’t much of a speed difference between a SATA SSD and an mSATA SSD. The latter is simply a smaller version of the former. They’re typically seen in thin, portable electronics like laptops. However, because most users have already switched to M.2 SSDs, these are becoming increasingly rare. This SSD is one of the best in the mSATA SSD category. It features SAMSUNG’s V-NAND Flash storage technology, which is both dependable and speedy. The SSD comes in three distinct capacities: 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB.
2.5” SATA SSD
A 2.5-inch SSD is the most common form factor, and it fits within the drive bay of most laptops and desktop PCs. The 2.5-inch drive has become a standard for all HDDs and SSDs as many consumers replace their hard drives with solid-state drives.
An internal M. 2 or 2.5-inch SATA SSD as your boot drive if you’re building a new PC from the ground up these days. Because practically all new motherboards now feature at least one M.2, a 2.5-inch SATA drive may make sense only if you’re updating or building from older hardware. The dimensions of a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive are 2.7 inches wide, 0.37-inch height, and 3.96 inches long. The 2.5-inch term, according to The Tech Report, refers to the size of a standard laptop drive platter, which is the disc inside the chassis where data is actually recorded.
M.2 SSDs are significantly smaller than their SATA and mSATA equivalents. SATA or PCIe can be supported by an M.2 SSD. Those that accept PCIe are quicker and consequently more expensive than those that support SATA.
M.2 SSDs exist in a variety of sizes, but Type-2280 is the most common, measuring 22mm in width and 80mm in length. It’s also comparable to a RAM stick in terms of size.

NVMe is now supported by most SSDs. NVMe is a transfer protocol that allows SSDs to communicate directly with PCIe lanes, eliminating the SATA interface’s limitations.
